Interdisciplinary Center for Social and Legal Analyses

Interdisciplinary Center for Social and Legal Analyses affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University was established by the decision of His Magnificence Rector of the Jagiellonian University in April 2008.

It is a research unit whose aim is to initiate, organize and coordinate research work related to the functioning of law as a social phenomenon, the judiciary, legal cultures and dysfunctions of the public sphere, against the background of broader processes of social change, changes in civil society, and globalization processes and the formation of supranational legal orders. These analyzes are of an interdisciplinary nature, and therefore are undertaken from the point of view of various scientific disciplines, including, in particular, sociology, legal sciences, cultural anthropology, economics as well as political sciences and social communication sciences.

The Center initiates international cooperation, conducts expert and consultative activities commissioned by public and private institutions, and organizes seminars and debates on the functioning of law in society.
