Professor Hubert Kaszyński - clinical sociologist and social worker, certified social work supervisor, professor at the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Work, Institute of Sociology, Jagiellonian University. In 2007-2013 he was the head of extramural studies in sociology with a social work speciality. Since 1989 he has been involved in social therapy for mentally ill people (until 2011 as an assistant at the Day Ward of the Adult Psychiatry Clinic at the University Hospital in Krakow, 1993-2006 as head of the Occupational Therapy Workshop at the Association for Psychiatry and Community Care Development). Since 1997 involved in the activities of the County and then Province Disability Attestation Team in Krakow. Member of the Board of the Polish Association of Social Work Schools and of the Krakow Branch of the Polish Sociological Society, president of the Regional Małopolska Branch of the Scientific Section for Community Psychiatry and Rehabilitation at the Polish Psychiatric Society. Founder and Member of the Board of the Institute of Social Therapy and Education – Association.

The focus of his scientific and didactic activities are the methods of social education in the field of mental health promotion, which are based on cooperation with people experienced in the mental health crisis, as well as the analysis of clinical development opportunities of social work related to reflection on the significance of universal aspects of the Holocaust for the theory and practice of therapeutic activities and help.

Author and co-author of publications in sociological social work and mental health, as well as social economy and entrepreneurship. For several years he has been teaching courses focusing on a personal and clinical approach to social work, seeking inspiration in the works and practices of Janusz Korczak, Carl Rogers, Viktor Frankl and Antoni Kępiński.

  • Testing and implementation of mental health promotion methods - project carried out in cooperation with the Institute of Social Therapy and Education - Association.
  • Expert in the project "3D COOPERATIONS - a model of multi-sector cooperation for the support of people and families" implemented in the partnership by the Regional Center for Social Policy in Krakow, Katowice, Opole and Łódź under the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development (Program Operacyjny Wiedza Edukacja Rozwój), Priority Axis II - Effective public policies in the labor market, economy and education, Measure 2.5 - Effective social assistance. From 2018 to today.
  • Development and supervision of tripartite cooperation of schools for social work (Kraków – IS UJ, Berlin – Evangelische Hochschule Berlin (EHB), Tuluza – CRFMS ERASME) and student exchange of social work and sociology students in the 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 academic years.

Completed Projects

Diagnostic study on the situation of the EQUAL target group on the labor market. Employment of mentally ill people - identification of opportunities and limitations, 2005-2008, Partnership for Development - Krakow Initiative for the Social Economy COGITO, financed by the European Social Fund EQUAL Community Initiative. Function: project coordinator on behalf of the Polish Psychiatric Association, main author and co-organizer of the research.
