On 18-19 March 2019 the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University will host an international conference summarizing the implementation of the Sustainable Finance Agriculture and Fiisheries (SUFISA). The conference will be attended by members of the project teams from 14 partner organizations, representatives of European institutions and international organizations whose activities are focused on the issues of agriculture, fisheries and diversified development and acting for the cooperation in these sectors, representatives of producers and processors, but also representatives governmental organizations from European countries. The program of the conference included plenary speeches presenting key conclusions from the research and activities made as part of the project, as well as discussion panels and workshop sessions.

The purpose of SUFISA is to identify sustainable practices and policies in the agricultural, fish and food sectors that support the sustainability of primary producers in a context of multi-dimensionsal policy requirements, market uncertainties and globalization. The implementation of the SUFISA project is based on close cooperation of researchers with producers, institutions creating relevant policies and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations - including international ones. Linking the theoretical analyzes and the participation of diverse stakeholders is a prerequisite for identifying the policies and operations aimed at counteracting negative results of market functioning - to ensure sustainable activity of farmers and fishermen. The project received financing from the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Program.
