Why study at the IS?

>> we care about the quality

Our teaching staff includes distinguished scholars (e.g. prof. Piotr Sztompka - ISA President 2002-2006), whose academic achievements have gained widespread recognition both in Poland and abroad. The high quality of lectures and classes is additionally ensured by their assessment by the students which takes place at the end of each semester.

>> we focus on practical skills

In our courses taught to students, we put special emphasis on the use of research methods and techniques, the skills for which our graduates are highly valued by employers. We carry out research and advisory projects for NGOs, companies and local government institutions. Our students have an opportunity to participate in research trips and workshops. Thanks to our partnership with companies and other institutions, we can provide students with attractive work placement opportunities.

>> we are located in the beautiful historic Centre of Kraków

The Institute of Sociology is situated in the very centre of Krakow (at ul. Grodzka 52), lying on the Royal Route leading from the Old City to Wawel Castle (3 minutes walking distance). Nearby there is the Philharmonic Hall and over 400 restaurants, cafes, pubs, cinemas, theatres, and numerous student clubs. The Old City - a UNESCO heritage site -  is encircled with greenery, flowers and trees of the Planty park, a place to stroll and appreciate the sights and sounds of nature.
